Cliff Swallow Nest Management – Culvert Project

Prior to a culvert rehabilitation project, Halker’s environmental team identified the potential for nesting conflicts with cliff swallows—a migratory species protected under the Migratory Bird Treaty Act (MBTA). Although pre-season inspections and removal of inactive mud nests were completed, the swallows returned and quickly rebuilt active nests within the project area.
CABI Monitoring

The client required environmental oversight and documentation for a redevelopment project involving significant soil disturbance at a former industrial site. The primary challenge was ensuring that all excavation and materials handling activities complied with applicable environmental and asbestos management regulations.
Bald Eagle Protection

During bridge maintenance activities, crews discovered an active bald eagle nest containing two eaglets within the federally protected ½-mile buffer zone. The unexpected finding presented immediate regulatory and operational challenges, as continued work could risk disturbance to a protected species and violate wildlife protection laws.
Health and Safety Plan (HASP)

The client required comprehensive environmental compliance and health and safety support for a large transportation infrastructure project that intersected multiple environmental and regulatory concerns. The project involved construction activities in areas with potential wildlife habitats, environmentally sensitive zones, and previously disturbed corridors where hazardous materials could be encountered.
Remedial Investigation & Design

Halker and its legacy company, Cascade Environmental, has completed over 200 projects for numerous contractors on a wide variety of highway construction projects around Colorado.
Fugitive Emissions Study

The client needed to reduce or eliminate fugitive emissions from over 50 existing upstream production facilities in order to meet 40 CFR 60 OOOOa requirements with an aggressive schedule. The fugitive emission sources were both oil and water storage tanks on site.
Phase I, II and III Environmental Assessments & Risk Analyses

Client Challenge: to conduct Phase I, Phase II and Phase III Contaminant Assessments to characterize the nature and extent of contamination at sites which have released or threaten to release hazardous substances into the environment.
Remedial Design and Construction Management

Engineering, design and construction services associated with the removal of 5,600 yd3 of radiologically-contaminated concrete and asphalt cover and the subsequent characterization of surface soils, subsurface soils and groundwater on a 6 acre site.
Facilities Conversion to Meet Evolving Needs

Maybe they were not producing enough oil and gas previously to justify the infrastructure investment, or maybe the wells in the area were located too far away from established processing facilities to make sense for operators.
Regulatory & Environmental Site Review

Mergers and acquisitions can be challenging for oil and gas firms, due to the sheer number of regulatory and environmental compliance issues surrounding the oil and gas industry.
